The article by Mike Seccombe in this week's "The Saturday Paper" titled as above,

is interesting only because it is about a former Cabinet minister and treasurer.

This is the man who , we believe, aspired to leadership of the Coalition and government.

Once again we the voters see the example of greed that is , not only accepted but seemingly encouraged by the political party system that we are forced to accept, in Government and Parliament.

Mr Costello, having resigned from parliament after some 19 years as an MP. and 11 years as treasurer would have retired with an enormous superannuation. He was immediately given a very well paid job on the "Australian Fuiture Fund" and other high -income positions. How much is enough?

This comment is a good illustration of the fact that the major parties have since Federation, never felt guilty about using their time in parliament and of course in government, to feather their nests. The amount of financial resource set aside to support ex MP's is huge, many $billions, and the political parties have no compunction in taking their so called entitlements.

Independent MP. Ted Mack purposely resigned early from State and Federal parliament to avoid his entitelment and save the taxpayer significant amounts , a true person of integrity and decency. The political Parties of all colours only seek government so they can get on the gravy train that is Canberra. A parliament of independent members, nominated and supported by their electorates would save the taxpayers enormous amounts.
