The article in this week's "The Saturday Paper" titled, as above by Mike Seccombe is full of good information but to some extent, misses the point. The fact that the two- party system, continues to use the issues of climate change as political football, will never resolve the national problem of concern with this matter. It appears obvious, that a majority of Australians are seriously concerned about the fact that we are not achieving any targets, whichever party is in Government.

The co- alition is without doubt the greatest impediment to resolving issues and achieving the need for renewables. Its support for the fossil fuel parasites is deffinitely hindering this need.

Unfortunately, the Labor government, while seemingly more committed, too easily procrastinates, and refuses to stop any future fossil fuel applications. It is obvious that both the two major parties, are far too dependent-, upon the corrupt funds they receive from vested interests.

The current government likes to pretend that the nation must rely on the incomes received from ongoing fossil fuel extractions. In fact we all know that the incomes received, via royalties and taxes, from these particular activities, have never been sufficient or even beneficial to the nation. Ceasing the enormous subsidies paid to the fossil fuel industry every year, $14.5 billion in 2023-24, according to "The Australia Institute" would probably offset most if not all returns to Treasury.

The scientific fact that climate change is the greatest threat, to not just Australia but the world at large, has got to be remedied, is now past urgent. The time has come to remove control of climate change policies here in Australia from our governments ie. Party politicians, and put into the hands of some sort of voter committee of the people. Say our scientific community? One suggestion could be to demand that the current government initiate a referendum of the nation to achieve the desired result. This would have to be pursued almost immediately. Off course the party politicians would fight, tooth and nail, to resist such a devlopment and legislation may be necessary. The resultant committee/ body would or could be made answerable to the full Senate.

We the people, have to take action on this extremely urgent issue!

Of course ,with a parliament of independent representatives, answerable to their respective Electorates, we would have better governments.
