What ever happined to Character?

Title borrowed from Judith Brett's article in this months Monthly magazine.

Judith's article very clearly spells out the story of the failings of our current auditing and accountantcy practices, but the question " how did this state of affairs come about?" needs to be pursued.

While the failings of our Parliamentry system refers strictly to the practises of the political parties and in particular the two party system that has evolved over recent decades.Here in Australia this deplorable state of affairs appears to have evolved from the attitude of the so called "Coalition", who have always believed that they have some divine right when in Government, to support their capitalist donors and undermine the position of the unions supporting the Public servants in departments such as Treasury, Taxation, Health etc. There seems little doubt that this dichotomy allows the conservatives to attack their opponents,no matter how deletarious the effect on the Nation.

The Party system will inevitably create division and subversion,even corruption.
