Isn't it obvious by now that , we the people are being treated like mugs. The article in "The Saturday Paper" dated w/ended Nov 22/2024 by Rick Morton titled "Exclusive: NACC dumped Gleeson over concerns for Coalition Minister" clearly demonstrates that both of our major parties are contemptuous of the voters of Australia.
The fact that actions by the Coalition while, in government during the previous 9/10 year, term pursued a policy of deceitful actions, that caused so much heartburn for thousands of the customers of Centrelink, resulting finally in a Royal Commission, that would be ongoing even now. Why, this should not have been, except for the attitudes of the coalition.
A new article in this weeks "The Saturday Paper" also by Rick Morton reporting " In the first six months of the National Anti-Corruption Commission's operation, the body's key governance officer, became so alarmed at the behavior of executives, that she decided to leave the fledgling agency, rather than continue to fight over disclosures
and other processes" Morton goes on to say"The problems were many and ranged from perceptions of noncompliance, to significant issues that affect the credibility of the federal corruption watchdog"
In another article of the same edition, Senator Don Farrell is quoted as saying, in answer to a question by the Victorian independent member for Indi; Helen Haines " is the legislation now before parliament, just a mechanism to lock in the two- party system". Farrell replied "Well, that's how the Westminster system works" This, in relation to the proposed changes to the election donation laws.
With regard to the two separate issues raised in this blog, it would seem that the government and the coalition have strange ideas about the so-called "Westminster system". Surely,In the first matter raised, we the people are entitled to know the facts regarding the Robodebt matter, in every aspect of FOI ,freedom of information.
In the second matter, it would appear that Senator Farrell has either a misconstrued idea of the Westminster system or prefers to lie. The concept of electoral funding, raised by donation or any other form of vested interests, has never been a part of the Westminster system. It appears to be a peculiarly Australian concept dreamed up and brought into electoral practice by our unique, Australian two - party system. We , the gullible Australian voters, have on this and many other similar issues allowed our two major parties to grossly inflate the cost of government. Just remember, it is our peculiar australian complacency, to allow many of our now inbuilt parliamentary features into, our grossly expensive cost of government. It is for these reasons that we, as a nation should recognise that we can do better. Adopting the concept of' the movement for better government, 'is a step in the right direction. Becoming a member, is the first step each individual Australian can take, in making Australia the world's first TRUE DEMOCRACY.
