The article in this week's "The Saturday Paper" by Rick Morton, subtitled " The hot seats" is an insight into Peter Dutton and the liberal party. My interpretation is that the coalition is verging on panic. Once again, we the voter is drawn into the inevitable political stoush between the two major parties. The contest is really, who will form government - Labor in its own right or a Labor minority government. From Morton's article, the coalition is trying to persuade themselves that they have a chance? It is clear that Dutton's liberal cohort is not at all convinced, and rightly so. It would seem that the Nationals are very concerned, as they should be.
Funnily enough, the joint leaders of the coalition should share the blame, as they will, if they pull off a win. God help Australia!
Unfortunately, the current government while doing a better job than the previous lot, are still just a political party looking after their own self-interests and vested friends. Example - Coalplus. However, we should not overlook the former incumbent of the seat of Ryan in Queensland "Julian Simmonds". He has now created a group titled "Australians for Prosperity"????, Although claiming to be non - aligned , he has apparently received funding from Coal Australia, to the tune of $725,000. What better example of rampant capitalism than the coal industry? except of course the gas extractive industry.
The fact that the world is in dire straights with climate change doesn't seem to bother the fossil industries, even though they are undoubetdly, the biggest threat to the nations of the world and humanity.
As climate change evolves, and many nations become the first victims, who will pay the piper for those poor buggers who are slowly engulfed by the oceans of no borders.
The movement for better government doesn't claim to address all of the issues pertaining to better government, but we do claim that Australia can become the first nation in THE WORLD to embrace true democracy. As a nation embracing compulsory voting and with probably the best electoral system in the world we can lead the world in True democracy. Become a member?
