What is the definition of social media ? According to the Oxford dictionary, "websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking"
Australia has an "E safety commissioner" who has the powers to remove extremist content.
e- safety Commissioner Inman Grant, apparently politically appointed, has highlighted the need for new powers to force the big social media companies to restrict graphic content and to stem the spread of misinformation.
There is hardly a citizen who is not critical of social media in all it's forms, yet this malignant form of communication here in Australia, is being allowed to continue to operate. One can only accept that the insidious form of adversarial activity, that applies in our parliament almost every day, is the prefered modus operandi of our political parties.
As a Nation, we should be able to decide whether we need or even want this invasive form of public communication. Once again if our so-called political masters were placed in parliament, to act and serve the interests of the nation, we would all be better off. But in fact we all know that is a fallacy and they compete to get there, for their own personal agrandisement and welfare.
