The article by Karen Barlow in "The Saturday Paper" of w/ended Nov. 15 raises once again the issue of "pork barreling" that well-established practice of our two main political parties who aspire to government.

Her article clearly records the actions of the Independent member for Indi, Victoria MP Helen Haynes, on this issue. She accuses the Albanese government of pork- barrelling after an analysis of $1.35 billion grants (supposedly campaign commitments) during the last election. Apparently,up to 90 per cent of the grants were in Labor electorates. Ms. Haines who is almost certainly the the best performing of our independent parliamentarians currently in parliament, all who are performing brilliantly despite the fact they, the Teals, had to resort to raising huge monies to gain election. That's just one way, but enough about that.

The details on this issue are clearly enunciated in the article which should be read. But the question we have to ask is, who gave the, so-called two-party system, the right to promise expenditure of funds they did not control and were never there to use in any way, once elected. A former coalition State premier believed it was legal and standard practice. Thankfully she's no longer in politics. Even more thankfully, we have MP's like Helen Haynes and the Teals to address these matters.

We the voters have to tell the political parties that practices such as "Pork Barreling" are corrupt even criminal.

Not just bad practice and unethical.

To make Australia a true democracy, become a member of the movement for better government.
