A recent media release from "The Alliance for gambling reform" tells us how the gambling industry spends more on lobbyists (double) than any harmful industry, to sway our politicians.

"Every day, harmful industries like gambling employ thousands of lobbyists to walk the halls of parliament. Meeting with Ministers and public servants under the cover of darkness to influence policy making". Almost always against the interrest of we the nation.

The fact that Gambling, climate change and other important issues such as fossil fuel extraction,which is not only an issue with climate change but preserving our natural resources, are all controlled by our political parties when in government. It is the biggest failing we have to face. Our economy is now and has historically ,been in the hands of people who have assumed they have some god given right to pursue policies which they or their consort have been given from the ballot box. This is not so.

These and other resources are always the property of the nation and should be accessed only for the benefit of the nation and in the interrest of the nation, not their vested interrests.

The fact that we the people accepted the notion from federation, that political parties were the only way to appoint government, is and has proven- false. From federation the parties have always functioned to further the interrest of their financial backers, whether they have been unions,or the greed of rampant capitalisim.A Parliament of independent members installed to serve we the people and not their own wallets, would produce better and more productive governments.
