It is good news that a number of Labor MP's are speaking out about the Governments "Future gas Strategy". The subsequent publication by Madeleine King MP titled "Minister's message' is infuriating. Despite being apparently a well educated person, she chooses to promulgate a thesis that is based upon dishonest opinions that obviously emanate purely from the fossil fuel lobby.

The fossil fuel cohort, Exxon, Chevron, Woodside, Shell, Santos, Inpex et al are totally unconcerned about Climate Change and are prepared to go to any lengths to protect their enormous profits earned in the past. Admittedly they invested huge amounts of capital on the premise that it would be good for Australia. But primarily for theit own coffers.

They would all have beem aware that their interests were going to be under challenge from the inescapeable effects of Climate Change. Instead of thinking of the future of humanity, they have chosen not to just ignore the consequences, but to actively pursue denial. Our Two party system as succesive governments ,have chosen to support the interrest of this cohort purely to protect their vested interests. It is now quite obvious that those of us who accepted the electioneering spiel of the Labor government are finding out that they like their opponents are insencere. Thats putting it mildly.

By the way tax office data collated by the Australian Institute established that the fossil fuel cohort had a combined income of about $59 billion in 2020 -21 and only Chevron paid $30 income tax. West Australia was apparently paid $ 670 million royalties in 2023 -24 which amounted to 1.5 % of states revenue. Don't we all feel sorry for those poor organisations. With a parliament occupied by independent MP's we would eventually start to get good ,honest government.
