Mickey Mouse is smarter than Trump.

This is the opinion of Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University in the USA.

While our newly elected government should (no doubt) refrain from such a blanket statement, we in Australia, should have no hesitation in supporting his opinion. The professor is a highly regarded world economist with a resume of having advised, and been retained, by a number of past Presidents, as well as numerous foreign governments. He is very critical of the Trump presidency and extremely forthright about the USA, in world affairs. So much so, that our newly elected government and parliament would do well to consult with him, relative to our relations with the USA in the short term,as well as the longer term.

While the Senate and Congress are still struggling with the Republicans, the actions and manner of the President are ,or seem to be, creating severe discord among the proletariat. Hopefully he won't serve out his term!

What has been inspiring is the reports from the Senate, via C-Span, prepared by, amongst others, Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse who as chairman of the "US Senate Committee on the Budget", has campaigned against the take over of the US "Supreme Court" and continues. The corrupt actions of a group of America billionares, he terms as dark money, is well documented. The fact that this "dark money" is apparently sourced from, in the main, the fossil fuel industry, is or should be, of great concern to our new government. This fact would, of course, not surprise our now defunct Coalition.

Climate change is no doubt, the most severe threat to the world and our new government, has to stop approving any additional new fossil fuel ventures in our region. Whatever the effect upon our budgeted incomes, it is better we lose income than our lives. After all, media reports inform us that we, in fact, earn very little from this industry. Our neighbours in the Pacific region, would also be extremely supportive.
