An article by Jane Caro in The Saturday Paper titled "Fully fund public schools" is well worth reading.

Unfortunately the two major parties (our much vaunted,Two Party system) wont bother. They prefer to leave our national education system floundering, so they dont have to answer to their vested friends.

If most , if not all of the funding allocated to the independent schools ie. private, was redirected to our public schools,we would undoubtedly improve our public school system enormously. Apparently $1.1 billion a year would be re directed lifting our standard of education. The imbalance in the national education system , which is stark, would be corrected, leaving the so- called private system to carry on in their snobby way, facing reality. Rampant capitalism would continue ,with the aid of the imbalance in our taxation system, which in time , may be addressed for the benefit of all Australians.

In time a parliament of independents will create a true democracy, with better government.
