Dutton's weaponisation.

The article in last week's "The Saturday Paper" by professor Kim Rubenstein titled "Dutton's weaponisation of citizenship" in reference to changing the constitution to enable the government, not the courts to strip dual Australian citizens of their citizenship, is frankly frightening.

More so as we know the new USA president ,Donald Trump is carrying out "Excutive Orders" of a similar nature to put himself above the law. One doesn't have to look too far to recognise the danger of empowering our political leaders, in such a way. The ridiculous idea Dutton has floated, of a referendum to change our constitution to enable just such a practice, should remind us of his denigration of the referendum to change the constitution, for a "Voice to parliament". It was straight deceit. His party and their coalition partners, were in government during the process of "The Uluru Statement from the Heart". To claim that they did not know, was to put it bluntly-lying.

The core of this blog is of course the simple fact that Dutton is Australia's "Trump."

Over the next few weeks, we will be inundated with claims and false promises by both of the major political parties, in the lead -up to the election. For most of us voters, this BS is just the norm.

The coalition is currently spouting a line " are you better off now ,than when Labor came to government". The answer, as much as it hurts is, yes we deffinitely are. Lets hope that Australia's Trump, does not succeed. The answer in time will be when our parliament is occupied by independent members, elected by their individual electorates, monitored by their electorates.
