DEBATE ?????????

Having just vacated my car at home, after listening to Parliamentry radio, what is supposedly a debate on the subject of the Albanese government's "Future made in Australia" bill, one becomes at least irritated if not .angry.

The fact that the govt. has allocated $22.7 billion to this project over some years, would seem to indicate that they are at least serious about the matter. But rather than a debate, all we the listener can hear, is the usual adversarial argy - bargy that is typical of question time and as non -productive. Whatever the quality of the bill, it demands serious debating rather than the internecine mud slinging that is, unfortunately, the common barrage of verbal missiles fired in the chambers of Parliament. The party system is the fault, particularly the so-called Two - party system that has evolved. This is a subject that should be open to the people via television, radio and of course print media. Definitely NOT social media. Most of the current independents in parliament, are clearly capable of leading the debate if allowed. Again, the party politicians will almost certainly stifle any debate for self inrerest.
