Coalition public service cuts.

The article in last week's "Saturday Paper'' by Rick Morton titled "The real cost of Dutton's public service cuts" brings to mind the ongoing saga of the coalition's attacks on our public service. Inevitably, when one looks back at their history in parliament as a government, we are constantly reminded of their actions replacing employed and well-trained staff, with so-called consultants. If the employed public servants appear to be failing in their performance, then surely it is the fault of successive governments. Their managerial skills are invariably the problem. It must be said that Labor seems to do a better job at governing, when it comes to managerial skills, than the coalition who, it would appear, are almost always motivated by the flagrant demand of their capitalist, vested-interest friends. It would be funny if it weren't so annoying, when both sides accuse each other of waste and mismanagement. As Katy Gallagher (Minister for Finance and Government Services) says, "And, short three-year cycles allow for that kind of maladministration, I reckon. You can come in, have this big 'Oh, shock horror, were gonna have to sack everybody, sorry about that, that's all the other person's fault".She then continues "As the Morrison government capped off a run of three coalition terms in power, the expenses bill for a shadow public service of external labour hire was $20.8 billion in a single year." The article continues, " This workforce of not -quite- public servants- consultants, contractors and sundry bolt-on providers- numbered 53,900 staff, making the total pool of government workers" 37 percent larger than the workforce measured by public servant numbers alone", according to an audit of the sector conducted in June 2022.

Now that the next election has been called, we the people- will have to go through all of this sort of BS, again, knowing full well how this affects our cost of running the Nation. If not, we should be! Thank you, Rick Morton.
