The article by Royce Kurmelovs in thie weeks "The Saturday Paper" titled " Catch as capture can" clearly enunciates the fact that' Santos and their partners are willing to bully our two party system. They will stop at nothing to deceitfully persuade the government to amend legislation ,to enable approval of the Barossa gas project. They know full well that approval of this contentious project through Parliament, with the tacit support of the opposition is not in the best interrests of the Nation.
In their information booklet destributed during the consultation, process it seems clear that they will need to resort to Carbon capture storage (CCS) if given the green light to proceed. Even though CCS is yet to be proven, whatever the cost. The fact that having taken over the the project, ,from Conoco Phillips who had decided not to pursue it , by
October 2019. Conoco had apparently come to the conclusion that the cost of building CCs capaacity of such a tenuos outcome, at $800 millions, was not a reasonable practicable alternative.
Though the Department of Climate Change ,Energy and Water published the approval notice at 5.15pm the Wednesday before Easter, the date of the decision (March15) was a full two weeks before it was made public. At that time organisations such as "The Australian Conservation Foundation", Environment Centre NT and the people of the Tiwi islands had not been informed.
"It is galling that a crucial approval for one of the of the most polluting projects in the country, has been hidden" from us all.
The two party system that shares government is obviously contemptuous of our Nation. Become a member of
