An article in the current issue of "The Saturday Paper" by Prof. Marcia Langton should be a read by every Australian. While our indigenous citizens represent only about 3.2 % of our population and are still some of our most disadvantaged, there is no doubt, that at last they are starting to achieve some parity with the majority. This despite the fact that racism is endemic. The recent referendum on the Voice to Parliament clearly demonstrates this unpleasant fact.

Voice to Parliament.

In the preceding months even years, meetings and discussions were held between the governments of the day and Indigenous leaders, funded by treasury. In July 2015 a meeting took place with the Prime Minister and Leader of the opposition at Kirribilli house. In December 2015 Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the establishment of a Referendum council to be processed,designed and led by First Nations people. The result after numerous meetings and dialogue between First Nations people from across Australia brought about the First Nations Constitutional convention to be held at Uluru, from where the "The statement from the Heart" was delivered.

For any member of parliament during those years to claim ignorance of the project, is a lie.


For the joint leaders of the so called coalition, to have promoted the idea of the term "If you dont know say no" shows rank dishonesty even contempt. Peter Dutton's attack during the campaign that followed the Government's announcement of the referendum date, was straight dirty politics, aimed purely at Anthony Abanese. It was nothing else but sour grapes at his defeat in the last election, demonstrating his total lack of concern for the nation. His ongoing behaviour in parliament and the media, clearly shows that he and his party are not qualified, to ever again assume government. Just another reason to remove the political parties from Parliament. Become a member-
